Back To School... Already?!

Cannot believe it is almost that time... School bells will ring, and back to school the kids must go. I think we have had a much too short summer. I, for one, am sad to send my babes back. We have made some great memories this summer. I will miss them...

In the next few posts, I am going to focus on all things Back To School! I hope you will visit often, and hey, tell your friends. I need more followers. LOL!

Hello Friends, I hope y'all had a great weekend!! I had a busy yet fun one. My daughter left for another weekend at the lake with her friend, I attended a going away party for some friends who are moving to Florida. My husband and son went to see the Atlanta Braves play baseball, and even squeezed in 9 holes of golf on Sunday.  The weather was just great where I am!! How was your weekend??

Harry Potter 7

My son began reading the Harry Potter books late last year. He quickly became addicted to them, the movies and Legos. He has now read all seven books, which is pretty good considering he was never a big reader before. Last night he and his friend went to the midnight premier of Harry Potter 7! He got home around 3:00 am, high on caffeine and Harry Potter. Ha!

The Very Best Strawberry Cake

Hi friends! Just a weekend re-cap. My daughter won one first place, one second place, one third place and Reserve Champion ribbons at her horse show this weekend. I am always so proud of her for working so hard. She is my little champion.

Okay, I came across a recipe a friend shared with me. This is one of my favorite cakes on earth. I promise, if you like strawberry cake, you will love this one!!!!

Triple Layer Strawberry Shortcake

1 cup plain flour
1 cup self rising flour
5 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup Crisco shortening
1 cup buttermilk
2 cups sugar

Mix sugar and Crisco until well blended. Add eggs one at a time. Add flour alternately with buttermilk. Add vanilla. Grease and flour 3 cake pans. Pour batter evenly into pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until done.

Slice 3 pints fresh strawberries. Mix with sugar to taste. Put into the refrigerator until ready to use.

When cake is cool, place strawberries between layers and on top of last layer.

Whip 2 small containers of whipping cream at highest speed on mixer until thickened. Spread all over top and side of cake
