Sorry I have been M.I.A.

I guess I took an unintentional hiatus from blogging for a few weeks. With school starting and all, I was very busy. Now that things are back to what we think is "normal", I would like to focus on college football. I am so excited to bring you ideas and recipes for a fun football season!!!

As Promised, Back to School, plus Selena Gomez and a couple of birthdays.

First of all, My beautiful friends took me to a wonderful restaurant to celebrate my birthday this week. Oh my, the food was incredible!

My sweet friends also gifted me with the most precious things ever. I was given a burlap monogrammed pillow, a rustic candle holder and candle, the most beautiful Brighton bracelet with silver and gold crosses, Lilly Pulitzer playing cards, a hot pink and orange pen with my monogram, the most adorable ruffled apron, and the snazziest Coach monkey key chain. And if all that wasn't enough, my dearest cousin gave me a check to purchase something of my choice. I am so blessed with friendship!

Last night my best friend and I took our daughters to see Selena Gomez in concert to celebrate my best friend's daughters birthday. We had wonderful seats and parking but I will tell you, I thought I might have a heat stroke before the sun went down!!!! We all had a great time and even stayed at our favorite hotel.

Today we were off to the American girl to do some shopping. I love that place! It's just so CUTE!!!

Okay, so now I am back home and I am going to show y'all some cute Back to School things...

Back To School... Already?!

Cannot believe it is almost that time... School bells will ring, and back to school the kids must go. I think we have had a much too short summer. I, for one, am sad to send my babes back. We have made some great memories this summer. I will miss them...

In the next few posts, I am going to focus on all things Back To School! I hope you will visit often, and hey, tell your friends. I need more followers. LOL!

Hello Friends, I hope y'all had a great weekend!! I had a busy yet fun one. My daughter left for another weekend at the lake with her friend, I attended a going away party for some friends who are moving to Florida. My husband and son went to see the Atlanta Braves play baseball, and even squeezed in 9 holes of golf on Sunday.  The weather was just great where I am!! How was your weekend??

Harry Potter 7

My son began reading the Harry Potter books late last year. He quickly became addicted to them, the movies and Legos. He has now read all seven books, which is pretty good considering he was never a big reader before. Last night he and his friend went to the midnight premier of Harry Potter 7! He got home around 3:00 am, high on caffeine and Harry Potter. Ha!

The Very Best Strawberry Cake

Hi friends! Just a weekend re-cap. My daughter won one first place, one second place, one third place and Reserve Champion ribbons at her horse show this weekend. I am always so proud of her for working so hard. She is my little champion.

Okay, I came across a recipe a friend shared with me. This is one of my favorite cakes on earth. I promise, if you like strawberry cake, you will love this one!!!!

Google image

Triple Layer Strawberry Shortcake

1 cup plain flour
1 cup self rising flour
5 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup Crisco shortening
1 cup buttermilk
2 cups sugar

Mix sugar and Crisco until well blended. Add eggs one at a time. Add flour alternately with buttermilk. Add vanilla. Grease and flour 3 cake pans. Pour batter evenly into pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until done.

Slice 3 pints fresh strawberries. Mix with sugar to taste. Put into the refrigerator until ready to use.

When cake is cool, place strawberries between layers and on top of last layer.

Whip 2 small containers of whipping cream at highest speed on mixer until thickened. Spread all over top and side of cake

Southern Sweet Tea or Southern Wine

Southern Living

It occurred to me, I have never posted a recipe for Tea. Growing up, tea was always in our refrigerator or "Frigidaire," as I called it back then.

Enjoy!!

Southern Sweet Tea
3 cups water
2 family size tea bags
1/2 to 1 cup sugar
7 cups cold water

Bring 3 cups water to a boil in a saucepan, add tea bags.
Boil 1 minute, remove from heat. Cover and steep 10 minutes.

Remove and discard tea bags.
Add desired amount of sugar, stirring until dissolved.

Pour into a 1 gallon container, and add 7 cups cold water.
Serve over ice.

Peach Tea

Stir together 1 1/2 quart sweet tea made with 1/2 cup sugar; add 1 (33.8 oz) bottle peach nectar and 1/4 cup lemon juice. Stir well. Serve over ice.

Makes about 2 1/2 quarts
